about the artist

Inspired by dreams, sci fi, and solarpunk ideas, Reeves depicts shifting, post-dystopian worlds and beings. Meditative drawing, spills, spray paint, brush, and carving the painted surface are techniques used by Reeves to highlight the act of making. Saturated colors, neon, iridescent, metallic and matte paint play with the tension between layers and space. Reeves’ open ended narratives found through a blend of abstraction and representation invite viewers to imagine the story details behind each piece.

Reeves is an artist living and working in Oregon. She received her MFA from Pacific Northwest College of Art in 2015 and her BFA from Colorado University in 2008. She has shown her work nationally and internationally including New York City, Portland (Oregon), Denver, Seattle, Tokyo, and Berlin. Reeves co-organizes exhibitions as a part of Dispersal Collective, a mail art project. Along with creating art, Reeves has a passion for teaching and inspiring new artists. She has taught youth at PNCA, youth and adults at OCAC, special needs clients, and was an artist-in-residence at Otto Petersen Elementary in Scappoose, Oregon. Reeves has received residencies through Signal Fire Arts, Rainmaker Artist Residency, and Leland Ironworks.
